I bought two of these - one for my car and one for my home. I have had back pain for close to twenty years, and I have benefitted from many different approaches to managing my pain. This core can be a very useful part of a larger general approach to chronic back pain. It doesn't really look like much but it is effective. I Just FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS that came with it and I find that when I use it, my back has a nice natural curve to it, as though the vertebrae are just stacked one on top of the other like a column of coins.
The nicest part about it that it works without having to do anything special. I don't have to flex or engage my stomach muscles or and I really haven't done a lot of core exercises for my abdomen -although those are really good for you if you have a bad back. This one works not only on hard seat surfaces but also on cushioned ones as well, which the original core didn't (at least in my experience). I just flew from California to Baltimore round trip last weekend and brought my core with me. Nothing personal, but I find that Jet Blue seats are like sitting on a brick, and with the Backjoy, I had no problems with the flights, either going there or coming back. I was surprised. On the other hand, it is nice when a product that costs this much actually works. By the way, if you are going to buy one of these - and I would recommend it - spend the extra bucks and get the one this this one, which has the memory foam. I found that it is better than the one without the memory foam - this kind works well on cushioned surfaces while the original doesn't (at least in my experience). It's also much more comfortable, as you might expect, being padded with memory foam.
